After the Oscar-winning film RRR, director Rajamouli is working with Telugu cinema’s blockbuster Mahesh Babu. The success of Baahubali and RRR has raised expectations for Rajamouli in Indian cinema circles. Mahesh Babu’s all-India debut adds to the anticipation.
His father Vijayendra Prasad, a treasure trove of Rajamouli’s works, has also produced the story for Mahesh Babu. His style is to derive plot and characters from epics such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, and Ambulimama-style children’s stories. In this context, Mahesh Babu’s character is being called the modern incarnation of Hanuman.
Rajamouli is keen to make his father’s story as a film. He took it up with a huge and spectacular build-up and took up the idea of turning his father’s story into a screenplay.
Despite it being a pan India film, they are in talks to collaborate with global companies like Sony or Disney to make it.
