UP CM Yogi Adityanath on the controversy surrounding the boycott of Bollywood and Pathaan’s Besharam Rang: “Artist should be honoured, but…

Besharm Rang’s song from Pathaan caused a stir because right-wing organisations and BJP officials claimed it disrespected the saffron colour, “which is sacred to the Hindu community,” in the song that featured Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, spoke out about the Besharm Rang controversy involving the Shah Rukh Khan movie Pathaan and advised artists to be careful with what they portray on screen.

After BJP officials and right-wing organisations said the song, which featured Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan, disrespected the saffron colour “that is holy for the Hindu community,” the Vishal-Shekhar-composed Pathaan song became the subject of controversy.

When asked about the Besharam Rang controversy and the boycott culture in an interview with Network18, Yogi Adityanath responded, “The film director should also take into consideration that it should not feature sequences that could give birth to controversy or harm public sensibilities.”

PM Modi had given advice not to make unnecessary comments on the film :-

Let us remind you that many BJP leaders, including Ram Kadam and Narottam Mishra, opposed the release of “Pathan” because they disapproved of the film’s obscene colour song and certain sequences. Prime Minister Narendra Modi later took the initiative in this subject as the controversy grew and issued a warning to the party members to stop making needless remarks on the movie.
